Something special for the 200th post!

Greetings people! I haven't been posting for a while, the last major one was a bit serious and frankly I should have taken the piss more with it and left the serious commentary to other people! So here I present to you the Stephen Colbert address to the whitehouse press association dinner. The man has balls of steel! Apparently the press didn't find it funny, perhaps because he was less than kind about the alleged 'integrity' of the Whitehouse press Corps. Anyway, enjoy.

Now the Colbert fracas was hilarious! I love a good prez-on-a-skewer!

And hey, Matt, it's nothing against your personal politics, it's just that you and I see things a bit different, yanno?

"Everybody asks for personnel changes. So the White House has personnel changes. Then you write, "Oh, they're just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic." First of all, that is a terrible metaphor. This administration is not sinking. This administration is soaring. If anything, they are rearranging the deck chairs on the Hindenburg!"

GENIUS!!! :)

Oh yeah I know that jo! Christ if everyone agreed with me the place would be overrun with squows and lakes of curry. I imagine I would have some kind of secret police ensuring everyone watches the Thundercats, Poddington peas and the Mr Men.

"68% of the people disapprove of the job our president is doing....but come on people! surely that means that 68% of the people APPROVE of teh job he ISN'T doing?"

I watched the whole thing - great that a Comedy Central face gets to do the speech at one of these dinners!

Lost the sound in the last minute of the spoof video - who is the old lady???

I have to say that I think that The Daily Show is somewhat superior to The Colbert Report. Have you guys read (or better still, listened to) America, The Book. I have it as audio book and it is just wonderful. A loan (ok, downloadable, illegal copy) can easily be arranged should anyone be interested. :-)

Liv - the old woman is a veteran white house reporter who has been in the job for about 9 presidents. She's constantly a thorn in the side of the press secretary adn appears to be the only one of the press corps left since 9/11 with any journalistic integrity.

That's a view from the outside though.

Fam - agree that the Daily show is better but Colbert is a better satirist, Stewart laughs to much to carry it off lol!

Ohhh I've probably heard her name a thousand times.

So that explains her weapons of choice: the notepad and pen...hehehe.

I personally like The Colbert Report much better than the Daily Show. Colbert has "truthiness." Whereas, Jon Stewart can't deadpan. He just can't!

If you watch Colbert regularly, I hope you didn't miss the show where Gustavo Arellano of The OC's "Ask a Mexican" column did an interview. Both the column and the show was HILARIOUS!
